The Bayer Process used in integrated aluminum plants dissolves bauxite in sodium hydroxide, exposed to carbonic acid, and heated to evaporate water. Flash vessels in this process often get punctured due to NaOH’s corrosive nature, requiring frequent hardfacing refurbishment. ADFL completed cladding 8 flash vessels and digester pipes on July 23rd.
